A photo of Team Penning

Central Maine Team Penning Association (CMTPA) was established on November 26, 1995, by a group of equestrians dedicated to increasing the popularity of this challenging and fast-growing sport. Membership and participation continue to grow, with members hailing from all over our great state, as well as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and even Canada. The club holds numerous competitions at The OK Corral, in Leeds, Maine, as well as competitions at the Skowhegan Fair, Farmington Fair, and Windsor Fair. Team penning often draws a big crowd at the fairs, with the bleachers packed, and even more spectators standing at the rail cheering on the riders! Due to increased popularity, CMTPA holds several United States Team Penning Association affiliated events, and also Ranch Sorting events.

Our Penning site on the shores of the Androscoggin River in Leeds is AWESOME! Great cows, beautiful scenery and a big, beautiful arena, thanks to our cattle provider, Ralph Caldwell and his family. Their Shoot-Out Cafe serves scrumptious food!

DIRECTIONS TO THE OK CORRAL in LEEDS, MAINE: From Auburn - take Route 4 through Turner to North Turner. Turn right onto Route 219 and travel 4 miles over the twin bridges. Immediately after the Twin Bridges Market, turn right onto the River Rd. You will see the arena, on the right, after traveling approximately one mile. From Augusta - take Route 202 South and turn right onto Route 133 in Winthrop. Travel 7 miles to the intersection of Route 219. Turn left onto Route 219. Travel approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto The River Road, immediately before the Twin Bridges Market. The OK Corral is located approximately one mile down the River Rd on the right.

We invite you to join us for our annual 4th of July CMTPA Extravaganza! Friday evening we will 'Turn & Burn' with the Ellis River Riders. Visit their website for an online entry form, or enter classes that evening. On Saturday morning we will be riding in the Turner 4th of July Parade. We encourage you to get all duded up Western and parade down Main Street with us! It's a great time and the crowd always appreciates seeing the horses. The photo above shows a few of us that rode in last year's parade....
